Each year at Śivarātri, a group of devotees begin their journey of learning the most important hymn from the Veda dedicated to understanding Rudra-Śiva. The Rudrapraśnaḥ & Camakapraśnaḥ are two parts of Rudram which is an important Sādhanā with a challenging and testing learning process. Are you ready to join the next group? I’m happy to offer this Foundation Program for Vedic chanting to give the best initiation to beginners to the practice. Through these 6 weeks of Live classes and guided self-study, students will understand how to get started with Vedic chanting as taught by Pundits of South India.

Rudra Krama Pāṭhaḥ

October – December 2024

14 online LIVE classes & 1-2-1 evaluation. With the grace of Śiva, I’m happy to offer this very special practice of chanting the Rudram as a krama-pāṭhaḥ. This is one of the many way the Ṛṣi-s of Vedic times devised as an error correction methods to preserve the Veda. The program is only available to those who have completed study of both Rudrapraśnaḥ & Camakapraśnaḥ with Shantala. I am unable to accept students who may have studied Rudram in other traditions.

Rātri & Sarasvatī Sūktam

Starting 03 October 2024 (Navarātri)

14 online LIVE classes with weekly homework evaluation. Starting on Navarātrī I am thrilled to offer this program to learn two exquisite hymns on two different Goddess aspects – Rātrī & Sarasvatī. Both Sūktams from the Ṛgveda, Rātrī, The Goddess of the Night, is said to be the earliest presentation of Goddess Kāli in the Veda. Sarasvatī is the goddess of flow (of inspiration) who graces us with clarity when our thoughts, actions and speech align with the Truth.

Taittirīya Upaniṣat in HAMPI, Karnataka

Join Shantala in her home state Karnataka for an exclusive retreat in one of India’s most historic places, Hampi. From 24 to 29 November 2024, she will be teaching the three chapters of the Taittirīya Upaniṣat at the incredible Kamalapura Palace. Situated at a stone’s throw from the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Hampi. Also called “the Group of Monuments,” this is truly one of the most beautiful and most pertinent retreat locations for Vedic chanting.

Nakṣatra Sūktam

The Nakṣatra Sūktam is a hymn dedicated to the celestial nakṣatra-s in the Taittirīya Brāhmaṇa. Each of the 28 nakṣatra-s is associated with a specific deity, symbol and significance.

Navagraha Sūktam

A compilation of mantra-s from the Taittirīya SamhitāBrāhmaṇa & Āraṇyaka, this Sūktam presents 3 mantra-s for each of the nine graha-s (planets)
